Look what I did!

The living room is almost complete. Really all it needs is a good cleaning and some pretty pictures. But it's my last day of spring break and instead of cleaning and photographing, I'm going to settle in and play me some Donkey Kong Country.

Part of the reason the living room is almost done is that I found a coffee table on Craigslist. I knew I wanted to just buy something cheap I could slap a layer of white paint on and be done. I watched Craigslist for a few weeks and came across this number for $30.
Cute? check. Open feeling? check. Easily painted? check. Well, sort of. This baby had a very very glossy black finish on it, so I knew it would require some serious sanding before I could make this lady white.

Four innings of baseball, one night of sleep and two pieces of sandpaper later:
Oh my. Naked little thing, but simply gorgeous, isn't she?

Well, here's where I went funky. As I was sanding and sanding and sanding and sanding and sanding and sanding and sanding, I kept thinking about what she would look like white. And while I thought she'd be darling, I wanted to try something a little different. So I decided on yellow.

Yes, yellow. I figured I'd be priming her in white, and yellow is easy enough to paint over anyway. It totally works for me.

What do you think?

It's definitely an understated yellow, but it adds just enough pizzaz for me, and brings the much wanted brightness into the room.

Reveal coming soon, I promise!
