Name to be determined

Am I the only one who names inanimate possessions?

As I mentioned here, our couch is on it's way out. Despite the love and tenderness that the red ouch and I have experienced together, it's time to move on.

Last weekend, while visiting N's grandmother in small-town MN, Sister-in-law and I went to a local furniture store, just to look, because they usually have awesome furniture. It did not disappoint. I found a couch I loved, and that was on sale from $899 to $449. It took a lot of willpower to not snap it up, but since N was not with me, and we had no way of getting the couch from small-town MN 250 miles south east to St. Paul, I had to pass. But it stayed with me.

Sister-in-law loved it too, she saw a commercial for Furniture Mart and what had a starring role but my new favorite couch. Advertised for $398! That's even cheaper! So, while N was driving back up to small-town MN for another visit with Grams, my mom and I went to my local Furniture Mart (which is an Ashley furniture clearance store) and visited with the sofa.

And I, of course, bought it. I'm a little in shock as we've recently gotten a new dresser as well (out of need, not want) and my recent purchase of Bernice the Camera, we'll be on a strict spending freeze for awhile now. (though I never thought I'd reach a point in my life where I could pay cash for a piece of furniture, yay me!) But, at least we'll be at home not spending money while sitting on our comfy new couch!

a lot more neutral than the red ouch, that's for certain

  1. I name things too: it started with stuffed animals and has progressed with age on to cars, mobile phones, my boobs... you get the idea.

  2. Also, LOVE the couch! Can't wait to see it in all it's new, soft & cushy glory. I like gray though, it's a nice neutral that looks great with brighter hues for accent.

  3. I'm going to miss the red ouch, but the new couh looks fantastic!

And I don't think it's crazy to name things. Ned (my car) and Eddie (my computer) think it's a little crazy, though.

  4. V. pretty!!! I think a lot of people name things. I am not one of them. Uncreative finance-type, perhaps? Just lazy?

Congrats on paying cash though, good for you! It's cool being a grown-up, huh?

  5. I name things. Just because, you know, everyone has a Nook (or a Kindle) but no one has an Oddo.

    Nice score on the couch!
