So, what's everyone been up to?
Sorry for the lack of info lately.
I kind of feel like I've been hibernating a bit. I was out of town for the last week, and didn't announce anything because, well, I find that kind of stupid, to tell everyone on the internet that you'll be out of town.
My mother, parents-in-law, N and I headed to a resort near Playa Del Carmen for Christmas this year. In an effort to ignore the idea of our first Christmas without my step-father, we thought tropical temps and cute little waiters bringing drinks to us poolside would help.
But, now we're back, and it's 2011. I'm not big on resolutions, it's one of the reasons I decided to make a 101 in 1001 list (must finish that...) but I do have 3 goals for this year.
1. blog more. I suck, I know, I'll get on that. Hey, as of right now I'm on pace to blog everyday this year.
2. Finish my 101 in 1001 list. Hopefully by June.
3. Learn how to say "no mint" in every language on the planet.
Ok, obviously, that last one is a joke. During our time in Mexico, in an effort to be more outgoing that I really am, (seriously, ask anyone who knows me, I'm boring and highly unadventurous, especially when it comes to food), I sampled some salsas that came with one of our meals.
Turns out, one of those salsas had mint in it.
I, am allergic to mint. It's true. I use cinnamon toothpaste, and frequently turn down offers of gum. (Though I carry my own non-mint variety, because if someone offers you gum, then, well, your breath probably smells, take the gum, man and do us all a favor.)
So in addition to a tan nicely set off by the sparkling white snow everywhere in town, I brought back some really bumpy skin from shoulders to knees. (and some alcohol-filled truffles from duty free, I may be itchy, but I still have priorities)
Other than that, it was a generally good vacation, and we even scored a free week at the resort, so for the cost of airfare, we can head back later this year!
