Taking a relaxation break

I need a break. I spend a good 4-5 hours daily searching for jobs, double checking resumes, writing cover letters, sending emails, and obsessively checking employment websites.

I'm tired.

Back in February, when I was mired deep in the throes of surviving a very unique and sometimes difficult school year, Hubs and I decided we needed to take a break. A weekend trip, maybe up to the north shore, or just even to downtown Saint Paul, a place to relax and chill.

For some reason, it never came.

Now, with this job stress? I'm feeling like I need it more than ever.

Any suggestions, particularly from you MN girls?


  1. I don't have any suggestions since I'm not in the area :( If you're really burning yourself out though and can't get away, definitely take a break. Get a massage, take an afternoon off - anything to get away from it all. I know sometimes just giving my brain a break really helps. Sorry you're so stressed :(

  2. A lot of the really nice downtown hotels have some excellent weekend rates (~$99). I don't pay too much attention to Minnesota in general, but the rates I saw today for the next couple of weekends were very reasonable.

    There's a W Hotel in the Foshay I've been curious about. It seems a little weird to have a contemporary-style hotel chain in a historic art deco building.

  3. Ooo lots of ideas here. We just spent our anniversary at Craguns on Gull Lake. Amazing water and they also have a spa onsite :o) We've also gone to Afton House Inn near Stillwater for the night. That feels like you're miles away although you can make just a day out of it. Last Suggestion: the Old Rittenhouse Inn in Bayfield, WI. A few hours away but a beautiful spot on Lake Superior. Otherwise; lock yourselves in with a bottle of wine and some netflix :o) Good luck!
